Workplace Missions

Beside the Work — Workplace Missions, tasked with overcoming the symptoms of Taylorism in the workplace, which is the habit of thinking a person is known only by their numbers.

A workplace wellness elective — chosen, never assigned.

The field

The shift floor: corrections officers, home-care aides, senior-living staff, drivers and service crews — the men and women who provide for others and are most often known only by their output.

The work

  • A table of ten chairs set beside the job, not added to it.
  • Eight rounds of teaching, one for each part of God’s Judicial Machinery, taken on demand around the shift.
  • The Exhortation to Transcribe: each participant writes a copy of the Scripture by hand and reads it daily (Deut. 17:18–20).
  • Two tables, chosen by the participant — one opened on the Authorized Version, one on plain questions. The choice is never recorded.
  • Table-Keepers serve without wages; they are grown from the tables, not hired.

How support is used

  • Seats for workers whose employers will not open a door.
  • Books, workbooks and printed materials for each table.
  • Table-Keeper expenses — never a keeper’s wage.

A tentmaking mission

The work is carried as Paul carried his: with his own hands at the trade, and with a church that sent once and again to his need.

And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.Acts 18:3
For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.Philippians 4:16

What you will receive

  • A monthly prayer & progress letter.
  • Reporting in ranges and in Authorized Version wording only — never a name, never what was said, never which table a man chose.

Pray with us

  • For open doors with employers and their crews.
  • For the participants at each table, by name only to God.
  • For keepers to be raised up from among them.

The rest of the house.

Behind the mission stands the doctrine. God’s Judicial Machinery is the hall where it hangs on the wall, and an ORIENTATION will walk you through the whole syllabus aloud before you enter.

Beside that hall stands the bench. Read it slowly; it is written for the table, not the brochure. Quality · Trust · Results is Beside the Work at its core — not a course added to the job, but a table set beside it, where the men and women who provide for others are equipped to apply wisdom and understanding to virtually any situation. Quality comes from motive, trust from values, results from approach; each is grounded in the hall and shown on the register. He as our stand does not move; our state does.

Behind the frame stands the register and daily devotional it is drawn from: the thirty-one emotions of the Lord Jesus Christ, set as the way, the truth and the life.
