Leadership Lessons in Liberty the way, the truth and the life
THE FILM
Thirty-one emotions, one fixed register — the whole curation in seven and a half minutes. Watch on YouTube

This is not a course in emotional management. It is a register.

The thirty-one emotions recorded of the Lord Jesus Christ are not a man’s feelings under repair. They are the fixed range of a sinless Man. The standard is not restraint; it is yet without sin.

On the plate below, the thirty-one sit on the gold bar. His authority does not falter. What moves is the participant — awareness rising, anxiety falling. He as our stand does not move; our state does.

Apprenticeship, Discipleship and Mentorship divide into the way, the truth and the life. They are not three stages. A man does not graduate out of the Way into the Life. One plant, three leaves, one root — and the root is I AM.

The register is not new here. It is Awareness One — The Witness — from Coterminous: A John 3:30 Primer, worked out on new material. In the parent figure below, the bar runs from Let there be light to It is finished, with He must increase above it and I must decrease beneath: one reckoning, worked out nine times. The governing plate that follows is that same reckoning on that same grammar — the bar running from I AM to It is finished, worked out thirty-one times.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.HEBREWS 4:15

THE PARENT FIGURE  ·  COTERMINOUS, AWARENESS ONE — THE WITNESS The Coterminous overview: a gold bar running from Genesis 1:3, Let there be light, to John 19:30, It is finished, with He must increase rising above it and I must decrease falling below, and the nine Awarenesses ranged beneath.
One reckoning, worked out nine times. The plate below is that reckoning worked out thirty-one times.
THE GOVERNING PLATE The A.D.a.M. Initiative governing plate: a level gold bar running from I AM to IT IS FINISHED, ticked with the thirty-one entries in groups of thirteen, nine and nine; a gold awareness line rising above it and a teal anxiety line falling below.
Every entry closes against this plate, and not against a feeling.
THE LEADERSHIP FRAME

Motives, Values & Approach

Three tiers, six terms, one return.

  1. Qualitative Motives QUALITY

    MINDFULNESS

Includes independent thinking, personal creativity, an open mind that welcomes novel and unusual ideas, and thinking outside of the box.

    VISION

Is the higher purpose toward which people work that provides meaning and inspiration for their collaborative efforts.

  2. Quantitative Values TRUST

    HEART

Represents caring and compassion, the positive feelings and emotions that underlie connections and relationships in the workplace.

    COMMUNICATION

Is the act of symbolically influencing others with respect to vision, values, and emotions… also involves listening and discernment.

  3. Unifying Approach RESULTS

    COURAGE

Is the intentional stepping outside the traditional boundary and comfort zone, to take risks, to take the lead, to be a nonconformist, to stand up for something, and to be willing to make mistakes as a way to learn and grow.

    “SIMPLICITY”

Is honesty, integrity, within service to others, which means going beyond “me, me, me” to give something to creation overall and afterwards the organization.

Results return upon motives.

PART I

the way

APPRENTICESHIP THIRTEEN ENTRIES

The emotions under load — on the road, in the body. What must be borne while the work is being done, learned beside the Master at labour.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.MATTHEW 11:29
13

HUNGER

AVan hungred G3983Two operations of one hunger

Matthew 4:1-4·Mark 11:12-14·Matthew 21:18-19

Two operations, opposite directions. In the wilderness He refuses to feed Himself out of order; at the fig tree He judges a profession that advertised fruit it did not have.

28

THIRSTY

AVthirst G1372

John 19:28-30·Matthew 27:34

He refused the vinegar mingled with gall at the start and received it plain at the end. The thirst was real and the timing was obedience.

30

WEARY

AVwearied G2872

John 4:6·John 4:34

The Maker of the well sat down upon it, and would not stop short of the sent will. My meat is to do the will of him that sent me.

20

PRESSURE

AVstraitened G4912

Luke 12:50

Straitened, not straightened — a channel narrowing, not a will bending. And the press ran toward the thing: till it be accomplished.

25

SUFFERING

AVsuffer G3958

Matthew 16:21·Luke 24:26·1 Peter 2:21

Foreknowledge did not anaesthetise the road; it lengthened it. Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered.

24

SORROW

AVsorrowful G3076

Matthew 26:37-39

Even unto death names the measure, not the outcome. Sorrow moved Him to the ground and to the Father, and away from neither.

07

DEPRESSED

AVvery heavy G85The AV word is VERY HEAVY

Matthew 26:37·Mark 14:33

The AV says very heavy, twice in one hour. A weight is laid upon a man; a name is given to him. Read the weight and leave the name alone.

22

SAD

AVexceeding sorrowful G4036The AV word is EXCEEDING SORROWFUL

Mark 14:34·Matthew 26:38

Herod, exceeding sorry, keeps his oath. The rich ruler, very sorrowful, keeps his goods. Christ, exceeding sorrowful, keeps nothing.

01

AGONY

AVan agony G74

Luke 22:41-44

He was heard in that he feared. What was removed was not the cross but death out of order. The agony drove Him deeper into the same prayer.

08

FEAR

AVfeared G2124Godly fear

Hebrews 5:7

Eulabeia is godly fear, not the fear that perfect love casteth out. It went toward the One feared, with strong crying and tears, and was heard.

05

CRIED

AVcrying G2906

Hebrews 5:7·John 11:43

He cried a dead man out of the grave, and cried Himself into one. The verse reads strong crying and tears — not fears.

27

TEARS

AVtears G1144

Hebrews 5:7

Offered up, not displayed. The hand that shall wipe away all tears from their eyes has itself been wet.

09

FORSAKEN

AVforsaken G1459

Mark 15:34·Psalm 22:24

The cry is the first line of the twenty-second psalm, and the psalm answers itself. The position was forsaken; the Person was not. He is still saying My God.

PART II

the truth

DISCIPLESHIP NINE ENTRIES

The emotions of discernment — what He felt looking at what was so, and at what was false. The disciple is taught to feel rightly about what is true.

If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.JOHN 8:31-32
03

ANGER

AVanger G3709

Mark 3:4-5

With anger, being grieved — one look, two things in it, and neither turned into a word against the men. What it produced was a healing.

12

GRIEF

AVgrieved G4818

Mark 3:5

Sullupeomai carries the with: grief that takes the other’s condition into itself. He grieved at what they were doing to themselves, and healed the man anyway.

14

INDIGNATION

AVmuch displeased G23The AV words are MUCH DISPLEASED

Mark 10:13-16

One word covers the disciples’ displeasure at waste and at rank. His was at a closed door — and then He took the children up in his arms and blessed them.

10

FURY

AVfierceness G2372The one entry in the future tense

Revelation 19:15-16

The one entry in the future tense, and the one the participant never imitates. Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.

02

AMAZED

AVsore amazed G1568The AV words are SORE AMAZED

Mark 14:32-33

Sore amazed is not surprise at information. It is the difference between knowing the cup and having it in the hand — and He went forward into it.

18

MARVELED

AVmarvelled G2296

Matthew 8:10·Mark 6:5-6

He marvelled at great faith where there was no covenant, and at unbelief where there was every advantage. Proximity is not faith.

06

DEEPLY MOVED

AVgroaned G1690The AV word is GROANED

John 11:33·John 11:38-39

Groaning in himself is the opposite of for the crowd. He set Himself against a thing, and the groaning went straight to the stone.

23

SIGHING DEEPLY

AVsighed deeply G389

Mark 8:11-12

The sign was in their stomachs while they asked for one from heaven. A sign given to that appetite only feeds the appetite.

29

TROUBLED

AVtroubled G5015

John 12:27·John 13:21·John 14:1

Death, the appointed hour, and betrayal from His own table. He met all three — and then said, Let not your heart be troubled.

PART III

the life

MENTORSHIP NINE ENTRIES

The emotions of impartation — poured out toward others and reproduced in them. What is received on the register is committed to faithful men.

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.2 TIMOTHY 2:2
04

COMPASSION

AVmoved with compassion G4697

Matthew 9:36·Mark 6:34·Matthew 15:32

It never once produced a feeling that stayed a feeling. Teaching, healing, bread, sight, a son alive. Every time it had a target, and every time it moved.

16

LOVE

AVlovest G5368The love of friendship

John 11:3·John 11:36·John 20:2

The sisters sent the relation, not the name — he whom thou lovest. He loved him, and abode two days still in the same place. Affection that never bent judgment.

17

LOVE

AVloved G25 / G26The love of benevolence

John 13:1·John 15:9, 12-13·Mark 10:21

Jesus beholding him loved him — and the love’s first act was to name the one thing he lacked. A love that adjusts its terms to keep a man is not the love that went to the cross.

26

SYMPATHY

AVtouched with the feeling G4834The anchor of the whole register

Hebrews 4:15-16

The man who yields at the tenth minute never learns what the sixtieth feels like. Yet without sin is not the limit of the sympathy; it is the proof of its completeness.

31

WEPT

AVwept G1145

John 11:33-35

He wept with them first, and then commanded the stone away. Weep with them that weep does not mean stop there.

15

JOY

AVjoy G5479

John 15:11·John 17:13·Hebrews 12:2

Handed over before the cross, not collected after it. For the joy that was set before him endured the cross — the joy was the strength of the enduring.

11

GLAD

AVglad G5463

John 11:14-15

Glad for your sakes, to the intent ye may believe — and then, nevertheless let us go unto him. The gladness carried Him to the grave, where He wept.

21

REJOICED

AVrejoiced G21

Luke 10:21·Luke 10:20

He corrected their rejoicing and then rejoiced Himself. Theirs was at their own power; His was at the Father’s good pleasure.

19

PEACE

AVpeace G1515The entry He hands over

John 14:27·John 16:33

A bequest, not a mood. Peace I leave with you — handed across on the night of the betrayal, with tribulation promised in the same breath.

A.D.a.M. — Like Precious Faith. A seedling of three leaves on one stem, within a circle.

THE CIRCLE

Carried Out

Three leaves and a root would be enough for a plant. The emblem draws a circle round them, and the circle is not decoration. It is the concentric shape of the witness — Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, the uttermost part. Four distances from one standing, and not four stages either. The furthest ring is reached by the same power that reaches the nearest, and no ring is skipped or graduated out of.

So the thirty-one do not terminate in the participant. A man who has read the register and grown aware of it has not finished; he has been furnished. Search is the Berean — whether those things were so. Steelman is the honest hearing of the best objection. Contend is what Jude asks. A man who can only affirm has not been taught; a man who can state the objection better than the objector, and then answer it from the text, has.

The register does not move, and the man who stands on it is sent out from it. Awareness up. Anxiety down. Authority unfaltering.

He must increase, but I must decrease.JOHN 3:30

Again, be encouraged.
