Progressive sanctification passing through our standing produces the righteousness of Christ … in our state.
Acts 20:32
32And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build
you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
- •Puts us in the right relationship with God.
- •Brings forth fruit of relationship by God.
Sanctification defined as… To be set apart from evil, and set apart unto God.

5And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of
the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.
15And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the
commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD. 16And the
priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the
uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the
Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron. 17Now they began on
the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the
porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the
first month they made an end. 18Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have
cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the
shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.
1)We see the will of God for our lives
1 Thessalonians 4:3–4
3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from
fornication: 4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification
and honour;
Romans 12:1–2
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what
is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
1 Peter 1:13–16
13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is
to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14As obedient children, not
fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15But as he which hath
called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16Because it is written, Be ye
holy; for I am holy.
2 Corinthians 7:1
1Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness
of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Ephesians 4:23–24
23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24And that ye put on the new man, which
after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Leviticus 27:14
14¶ And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the
priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.
2)Sanctification can apply to a noun — person, place, or thing
Note: When we take back that which has been sanctified, it can become a curse.

Romans 8:23

ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43It is sown in dishonour; it is raised
in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44It is sown a natural body; it is
raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45And so it is
written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward
that which is spiritual. 47The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man
is the Lord from heaven. 48As is the earthy, such are they also that are
earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49And as we
have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50Now this I

where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56The sting of death is
sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, which giveth us
the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast,
unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain

1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons

be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father,
and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
Numbers 21:5–9
5And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of
Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our
soul loatheth this light bread. 6And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they
bit the people; and much people of Israel died. 7¶ Therefore the people came to Moses,
and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that
he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. 8And the LORD said unto
Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that

1 Thessalonians 5:23–24

your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants
to righteousness unto holiness. 20For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from
righteousness. 21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of
those things is death. 22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye
have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
2 Corinthians 6:17–18
17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the
unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons
and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Our sanctification is Positional @ salvation;
Progressive as we “grow in grace;”
and Perfected with completed glorification (of our body)
